Drogheda Arts

The Drogheda School of Performing Arts does not make any guarantees to its students concerning professional work. However, from time to time we are asked by casting directors in Dublin to send students for auditions for parts in films, TV commercials and for stage. Some of our students have been very successful at auditions. For instance;

Andrew Gallagher played the part of the young Henry Thomas in "Gangs of New York" and spent a very exciting month in Rome working with Martin Scorcese and alongside actors Daniel Day Lewis, Liam Neeson, Leonardo di Caprio and Cameron Diaz. Since then Andrew has played the central character in the short film "Swan Story”, and has also featured in a road safety commercial. Other students have been in professional pantomime and TV commercials. We are always thrilled and excited for our students’ success at auditions. however we like to stress that our prime concern is training.

Even without the bonus of working on professional productions, students from all age groups are given the chance to perform twice a year in productions at The Little Duke Theatre in our very professionally run shows.

As well as producing shows we also prepare our students for Royal Irish Academy Speech and Drama examinations.  Examinations are held three times a year at the Little Duke, and we pride ourselves on the number of’ honours’ and ‘distinctions’ our students achieve each year.  Every year in the past, some of our students have earned High Achiever Awards, presented by the Royal Irish Academy and sponsored by the Irish Permanent.   These students are invited to audition for the opportunity to perform in regional concerts around the country.
